Linux Server:
A linux web server running Apache web server is a very low cost solution if you have a spare PC. RedHad Linux or Mandrake Linux are recommended for beginners. The installation ISO files to creade install CDs can be downloaded from http://linuxiso.org. CDs can be purchased for about $10 from http://www.tuxcds.com/ if downloading is too slow for you. If you want documentation, buy the offical retail version for $30-$40.
During the install process, be sure to install the Apache web server as well as the mod_proxy and mod_sll Apache modules. Installing a web-based adminstration package may also be of use to first-time users.
After installing and configuring these modules, open a port to your Linux web proxy thrugh your firewall router by connecting to the web page for your router.
SSH can also be used if installed on the Linux server. This is a type of cheap VPN connection. More information to come.
