Dear Tivohelp:
Thank you for your help file on setting up TivoWeb. I couldn't have done it without you. I would like to mention one step however, that kept me pulling my hair out for days. I could not get the Search feature of TivoWeb working at all and even re-installed TivoWeb twice thinking I did something wrong. Finally after remembering have to execute Tivoweb and seeing a bsearch file, I decided to try to execute bsearch to see if that would make a difference. Sure enough, The searches for TV programs, Actors, etc. worked fine after that. You might want to add that for those who try installing TivoWeb and have the same problems.
Thanks

Hi,
Im a Linux Intermediate User and thought that tivo users can run programs on a command prompt by directing the console to the serial port or ethernet adaptor! That way you could do hack programing and more by using a computer like a very cheap laptop and connect it by serial ports. you would only need to open up the tivo once to enable it! I dont have a tivo put ive been using Linux for 5 years and have multiple computers with linux installed.
if you want to discuss this more email me at buukkeess@Phreaker.net
bye!

I have not yet bought my TiVo, but will soon.
I understand the lifetime option is going away soon.
My questions involve using a Mac with OS X.
I note a number of ways to upgrade your TiVo, but it
requires commands for Windows, I guess.
I do have Virtual PC XP loaded.
What do you suggest for the Macintosh user?

http://tivohelp.swiki.net/6 on this page about sending files to the tivo using hyperterm you need to tell people to first type "rz" before you send the file or tivo wont recieve it.
Thanks
You can't upgrade a TiVo with Virtual PC, but a Mac can do certain upgrades. More info is here:

The suggestion from weaknees only works on a unit without an expanded A drive (yes, I realize that's the case for T J who has not bought their Tivo yet).
I'd love to find the source to the tools to port to OSX to upgrade my expanded-A drive to a 2 drive Tivo, all on a Mac.. (via Terminal or even single user mode). The source is not available as far as I can tell, right? You can also email at mattack@area.com Note: You do not need to have a username or be logged-on to make suggestions!
