If you have a Tivo series 2, a low-cost USB-to-Ethernet adapter can be plugged directly into the USB port on your Tivo. This adapter must then be connected to a hub or switch on your local area network using a standard catagory 5 ethernet cable so that it can be accessed by other devices on your network.
If you have Tivo software version 3.0 or later, a DHCP server is required on you network by default. Visit the LAN section of this site for DHCP setup instructions or the DHCP Disable section for instructions on getting around this requirement.
