Using Telnet via Command Prompt:
Telnet provides user support for the Telnet protocol, a remote access protocol you can use to log on to a remote computer, network device, or private TCP/IP network.
Instructions:
- To open Telnet, click Start, click Run, and then type telnet xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx.
- You can also type telnet xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx in a command prompt window.
- For help, type telnet /? in a command window.

Changing Default Window Size
You may encounter problems using the JOE editor if you do not set your default screen buffer and screen size to one that is compatible with tivo.
Right-click in the telnet window title bar and select Defaults

Change the Windows width to 80 and the window height to 24. You can also change the buffer to the same sizes, but this may not be required.

For the current session to be changed, right-click on the title bar and select Properties and make the same changes. The JOE editor should now work.
