WS_FTP is a simple, Tivo-compatible FTP client. It utilizes an easy-to-use Graphical User Interface.
A lite (Limited Edition) version called WS_FTP LE is available free of charge for anyone who is a studnet or works for the government. This LE version is the recommended version of the software for use with Tivo. A Pro version called WS_FTP PRO is available as shareware, has more features, and may time out after 30 days.
Configuration:
Click the new button and create an new profile for your Tivo. Enter the name of Tivo any name you choose for the profile name.
For the host name, enter the IP address of your Tivo. For Tivo software version 2.x, this is a fixed address chosen during installation. For Tivo software version 3.x and later, this IP address is dynamically assigned by the DNS server on your network by default or can be set to be static by changing the Tivo configuration. See the network section for more details.
In the host type field, choose UNIX (standard)
For username and password, you can click the anonymous check box or simply leave it blank. It does not matter what is typed into the username and password fields.
The General tab in Session Properties should appear as follows:
In the Advnaced tab, the passive transfers option can be turned ON or OFF. The default setting of ON should be the safest configuration. All other settings should appear as follows:
Hit the OK button and you will connect to your Tivo via FTP.B>
With the current version (5-June-2002) of the Tivo FTP server, many FTP commands are not supported. You can not create new directories. You can only transfer and delete files. To create directories, you must use telnet.
